Accident and Emergency

Summary management information on the percentage of patients spending less than 4 and 8 hours in all NHS Wales hospital emergency care facilities (major A&E departments and other A&E/Minor Injury Units) from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge. These figures are derived from the monthly Emergency Department Dataset (EDDS) submitted to NHS Wales Informatics Service by Local Health Boards (LHBs). 

This information is classified as management information as it has not gone through the additional statistical validation or interrogation that is normally the case for the official statistics outputs. (...more)

Health Maps Wales

Health Maps Wales is an interactive tool that can be used to explore a variety of health indicators grouped under broad categories, such as cancer, common procedures and causes of injury. The maps allow the user to explore data at their geographic area of choice (where available), to look at trends and to compare areas against a Wales comparison figure. Indicators are available at Middle Super Output Area (MSOA), Upper Super Output Area (USOA) and Unitary Authority (UA) level subject to rules of disclosure and small numbers. (...more)

PEDW Data Online

The Patient Episode Database for Wales (PEDW) is collated, validated and stored by the NHS Wales Informartics Service on behalf of the Welsh Government and the NHS in Wales. It is a rich source of information about patients admitted to hospitals in Wales. (...more)

Substance Misuse

Tackling substance misuse problems in Wales is a priority for the Welsh Government. It is a complex issue that involves a wide range of professionals and specialists services, both statutory and non-statutory. An excellent example of joint working between the Welsh Government, NHS Wales and Treatment Service Providers throughout Wales has enabled progress to be made in this area through the establishment of an All Wales Substance Misuse Database.
